TO THE RUSSIAN--AND OTHER--READERS OF THIS BLOG

A few readers have communicated with me, and I have responded to each of them in either English or Spanish.  Recently I have received several emails in Russian; this presents a problem:  I have never had the opportunity to learn the language of the great Russian people.

As unimportant as the author of this blog must be, to open emails that I could not read (emails that might bear destructive viruses and other malware) would be unwise, considering the fact that I have been critical of the virulent persecution of homosexuals under the current Russian régime, and considering the Russian régime's manipulation of the Internet. (I am aware of my own government's intrusions too, but they are of a different kind and are irrelevant to the concerns of this post.)

Because of these considerations, I open only emails that I understand and that I can verify as not presenting a threat.

Readers can safely communicate with me through the Comments at the bottom of each post.  No reader's comments will be published unless the commenter wishes it; and answers, if any, will be worded in a way that will preserve the commenter's anonymity.

I hope that all readers will continue to enjoy the poems posted on Homoerotic Poems.

I DREAM OF THE SEA

Trapped in the American South,
Close in under a root-tangled riverbank,
In cold water up to my neck,
Handfishing, naked and hungry,

I think of the hard surfers
that hurl their bodies like sharks
Down the thunderous tunnels off Te-a-hu-po‘o
And Pe-a-hi, and Dangerous Banks,
And Cape Fear,

I think of the salt and sand on your skin.

I DREAM OF THE SAND AND THE SEA

I dream of the sand and the sea's salt on your skin,
Of the hard surfers that hurl their bodies like sharks
Down the thunderous tunnels off Te-a-hu-po‘o
And Pe-a-hi, and Dangerous Banks
And Cape Fear

And I wake up trapped in the American South,
Close in under a root-tangled riverbank,
In cold water up to my neck,
Handfishing, naked and hungry.
